Open data is public information published in a machine-readable format for free access and further use. The main place to find open data published by all government bodies - including the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and the State Service for Transport Safety - is the National Open Data Portal (data.gov.ua).
Transport open data is valuable as a foundation for creating services that make mobility more convenient and safe. Data published by central and local authorities, and services built on them, help passengers and carriers plan routes, choose optimal travel times, track border crossing loads and make better travel decisions.
For government and local authorities, using transport open data reduces budget costs, allows route network optimisation, more efficient traffic management and faster response to issues.
